Folks who play ‘noise’ do so because there are no rules, requirements or expectations to always be a certain way,” explains Leslie Keffer, a longtime purveyor of noise who began creating technoid weirdness a couple years back. “They will always explore and interpret all genres. It’s what makes them and the genre unique.” Indeed, curiosity refreshes itself at an accelerated clip for Keffer and her peers. Today, it’s techno and house, but six months from now these voracious creatures could very well be mangling an entirely different style of music.
